Out with the old and in with the new, Eh?!

Do you love going through your closet and purging to make room for new stuff? Or going through your kids clothes to make room for the next size up? I know it’s a pain in the butt, but (ha! Butt but – my kids would’ve loved hearing me say that) it does feel so good to get rid of things you just don’t wear or have out-grown. Need some motivation? I have it! How about just simply uploading a picture of the item and selling it? I’m telling you, Poshmark is definitely an app you have to try!

First step is to download the app on your phone and create your profile. You can add a picture of yourself, and also all your sizing and brands you’re interested in. Poshmark is a gazillion virtual consignment shops that include old and new items.

When you’re ready to sell something just create a cover shot – snap a photo of the item you want to sell with your iPhone or Android to add it to your “closet”. There are several filters to make it look like a magazine photo and will help draw attention from the “shoppers”. You can add several photos of the item and you even decide where to price it! I recommend pricing a little higher than what you actually want because people will most likely “bid” to get you lower. Keep in mind; Poshmark keeps 20% of whatever the end sale price is.

One of my favorite parts is how easy it is to ship the item to the buyer – “No stamps, no hassle”. When you make a sale on Poshmark, they will provide you with a pre-paid, pre-address label, all ready to be put on the box. You just find a box and drop if off at any blue USPS mailbox (depending on size), USPS or have it picked up from your home.

Your main goal is to get “followers”, the more you have the more people see your listings. You will want to follow and “share” listings in other closets so that they return the favor. The more shares the more eyes on the items you want to sell.

I can personally tell you it’s so fun to go through the process, it’s exciting to have someone bid on your item and then you decide whether you want to accept or counter. And vice versa, I put a bid on a skirt the other day and it was torture waiting to see if they would accept my offer! (You have 24 hours to accept an offer before it expires)

Good luck and Happy Selling!
